Hey! Steph and Katie here (from the Fraser Island trip – we agree it was a bit lame ending at 3pm). Anyway Merry Christmas! We have finally stopped for long enough to get round to getting in touch with the great people we met around Oz. We are now in Wellington and I (Steph) have just got a job teaching here so we will be here for a wee while – all the best, good to meet you – if you are back in NZ or travelling in Scotland do give us a shout – Slainte!

Yeah the main cave is really wide, we just crawled through some holes for fun.

Also, there’s another company taking people up another part of the cave on a boat, if they don’t want to climb and wade around…

It’s the same cave that David Attenborough filmed in for “life underground”. I didn’t actually upload the photos of the glow worms glowing, did I? The threads dangling down from the roof are spun by the glow worms to catch food (who are attracted to the glowing).

Looks great – but do they have an alternative route for people my shape? I would not want to test Les’s theory that, should a person get stuck, they could just be left for a day or two to lose weight!
