I had great fun in Waitomo caves.
I went with Rap, Raft ‘n’ Rock and also stayed at their accomodation. They persuaded me to get up for the first tour, because there was only one other person on it when I booked. There was still only one other person on it when we did it, and consequently, we got to spend around 45 minutes longer than a fully booked (6 person) tour down in the caves. Climbing up muddy walls and squeezing through cramped tunnels.
The guide, Simon, took a load of photos which I was able to buy for $20 for a CD (also with some stock photos of the cave).
PS. Rap stands for rappelling, which is what Americans call abseiling, we didn’t rip up some wack subterrainian rhymes while the DJ revolved it.
@Peter: Rserve judgment until you’ve tried it!
Hi there kidda.
Looks great – but do they have an alternative route for people my shape? I would not want to test Les’s theory that, should a person get stuck, they could just be left for a day or two to lose weight!

Well I will just have to take your work for it that is was ‘brilliant’. Not sure I would want to be half submerged in cold water underground in a narrow space.
