Yes, that was the post that got lost.
There are some caves where you can abseil down, float along an underground river in an inner tube (with glow-worms), then climb out the other end (with belay, thankfully).
I couldn’t remember the name, but I knew it began with “Wai”, so I looked on the drop-down of destinations [...]

Arrived in Auckland OK.
Had some trouble with the air flight, though. The systems were down in the particular section of Melbourne Airport I was flying from, affecting my airline (Pacific Blue) and some others in the same building. After getting up at 5am to get there on time, I wasn’t too happy to stand in [...]

Isn’t that plan A? Oh no this is holidays, not work.
I’m flying to Auckland tomorrow morning. And flying from Christchurch to Sydney on Thu 19 Dec. Not 100% sure what I’m doing in the middle, but most people say the South Island is best. However, there’s a place on the North Island where you can [...]

Well Canberra was a strange place… For a capital city, it is very quiet and the actual Capital Hill area is kind of like a motorway junction in the middle of nowhere.
Some people told me it is boring, but I actually ran out of time to see all of the museums. The YHA was nice [...]

I’ve had a nice time in Sydney, not been doing much, but moved around hostels that have been recommended to me, to see which I liked best.
Today, I’ll be taking the train to Canberra. Everyone says it is boring, so I’ve only got 3 nights there. However, looking in the Lonely Planet, there seem to [...]

I tooka guided tour rather than the self-drive favoured by many people. Having seen some of the people they let drive, I think it was a good decision (they put you into groups shove you in a jeep and point you towards the ferry). On jeep overturned while I was there, except it was at [...]

Airlie Beach was quite a nice place to stay for a few days. I stayed at the YHA which was a YHA run one rather than a private YHA-affiliated one, hence it doesn’t have a name. It was functional and friendly…
Whitsundays were spectacular. Unfortunately, I was having “battery consuption issues” with my camera, so I [...]

Magnetic island was a great place to relax. I stayed at Bungalow Bay Koala village (YHA affiliated). A few days after I left, all of the beaches were closed because a crocodile that had a tracking device fitted went “off the radar” in the area…

Tomorrow, IĀ get on a train to Sydney (not a QR train, but CountryLink the NSW long-distance operator).
I have to get up really early, so I’ve moved to the YHA for one night. It’s near the station and also offers the possibility of actually sleeping.
